Ingredients
 
 

  • 313 g AP flour
  • 1 tbsp. active yeast
  • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup water warm, 110℉ - 115℉
  • 2 tbsp oil olive, vegetable, etc.

Instructions
 

  • In a measuring cup, add the warm water. (If you do not have a thermometer, the best way to gauge the best water temperature is to stick your finger into the water. It should feel warm enough to shower in. If you cannot comfortably keep your finger in it for long, it's too hot.)
  • Add the yeast and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes .to proof
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and salt. Mix briefly.
  • Now add to water mixture to the dry ingredients, and knead until well combined, and not sticky. Shape dough into a ball. Grease mixing bowl with the olive oil and set aside, covered for 20 minutes in a warm room.
  • Uncover, punch the dough, briefly knead again to reshape the dough into a ball.
  • Place in a lightly floured large Dutch pot or large baking sheet. Lightly cover dough with a pot cover or napkin.
  • Preheat oven to 375℉.
  • Let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Uncover dough. Score gently criss cross with a knife or razor, for a pretty finish.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, or until it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Let cool slightly, slice and enjoy.

Notes

Add your favorite herbs to dough for a unique bread.
 
Add some cornmeal at the bottom of your dough before final proofing to really jazz it up.
